Silver Creek Valley Country Club is a 1,500 acre private community nestled in the foothills of southeast San Jose, California.  Developed by Shea Homes with 1,550 residences and a private 18 hole championship golf course, over 5,000 people enjoy the lifestyle of resort living only a few miles from the center of Silicon Valley.  The valley setting at high elevation is truly spectacular as many areas of the Country Club view northerly all the way to downtown San Francisco, nearly 50 miles away.  Long distance views, golf course views, Mt. Hamilton Range views . . . the appeal and aesthetics of the Club are greatly enhanced by the variety of views.
Shea Homes, the master developer of SCVCC, designed the community with a variety of neighborhoods, or collections, each offering their own distinct style.  SCVCC consists of 12 collections featuring a total of 46 different floorplans, plus 170 elegant custom estates.
The condominiums of the Riviera Collection feature award-winning designs of 1,590-2,330 square feet and innovative sound-proof construction techniques.  Prices range from $900,000 to $1.2M.
The single family homes of the Country Club have been designed for certain minimum lot sizes on a neighborhood by neighborhood basis.  The grandeur of the homes increases as the homesite width increases as that allows for a wider home design.  The following describes the minimum homesite widths:
  • The St. Georges Collection minimum lot width is 35 feet.  Many of the homes have shared driveways and most are sited on homesites with a zero lot line.  The homes are approximately 1,600-2,200 square feet with prices ranging from $1.25M to $1.45M.
  • The Carmel Collection minimum lot width is 45 feet.  Most, but not all of these homes are sited on homesites with a zero lot line.  Carmel Collection homes are approximately 1,600-2,485 square feet and prices range from $1.4M to $1.7M.
  • Capilano I, Capilano II, Crown Point, Cypress, Monterey and St. Andrews  all have a minimum lot width of 60 feet.  The homes are approximately 2,100-4,000 square feet and prices range from $1.65M to $2.25M.
  • The Augusta Collection and the Positano Collection minimum lot width is 80 feet.  The homes are approximately 2,900-4,300 square feet and prices range from $1.8M to $2.5M.
  • The Mansions Collection and Masters Collection have a minimum lot width of 100 feet.  Homes range from 3,400-5,150 square feet with prices ranging from $2.2M to $3.1M.
  • The custom homes also have a minimum lot width of 100 feet.  Most custom homes range from 3,500-6,000 square feet with prices ranging between $2.4M & $4.2M.  A select few custom estate homes exceed 8,000 square feet with values between $4M & $10M.

This broad spectrum of homes is one of the elements that makes the Country Club so special.  There is a home style to suit all tastes and all price ranges.  The vast majority of homes in the Country Club were built with excellence by the original developer, Shea Homes.  To further their goal of selling 1,300 completed homes during the 1990's, Shea did an excellent job with design and amenities.  Ponderosa Homes built the Crown Point Collection in an area of the Club where nearly each home has an excellent view.   A variety of outstanding custom homebuilders built the 170 custom estates making each one unique.

All streets inside the Country Club are private and maintained by the homeowners' association.  Each homeowner pays dues of $148 per month that covers the maintenance of the dedicated open space and streets as well as the personnel at the two entry gates.  These dues are extremely reasonable because of the large number of residences paying the fees. Another key benefit is the homeowners' association enforces many rules that are designed to promote the "quiet enjoyment" of your home while maximizing its value.  A few of the rules that help maintain property values include: all resident vehicles must be parked in the garage; no long-term visible boat or RV parking is allowed; exterior home colors are approved and monitored; resident landscaping is to be maintained to a high standard and no holiday decorations are allowed except during the holidays.  Based on the restrictive parking policy, long term planning is needed to insure that your home has garage space for each of the family cars.   Two sub-associations exist with additional monthly fees paid by homeowners in the Riviera and St. Georges collections.
Children of Silver Creek Valley Country Club attend award-winning public schools.  Silver Oak Elementary provides an outstanding education for kindergarten through 6th grade students.  The school was built in 1994 when the community was being developed and SCVCC residents can access the school without ever leaving the gates of the community.  Silver Oak students achieved an extraordinary API score of 976 in 2013, the last year API scores were produced.  Great Schools rates Silver Oak Elementary a 9 out of 10.  Chaboya Middle School, for 7th & 8th grade students, offers an exceptional educational experience.  Students achieved an impressive API score of 950 in 2013 and Great Schools currently rates Chaboya an 8.  Both Silver Oak Elementary and Chaboya Middle School have been recognized as California Distinguished Schools on four occassions.  Parental involvement and fundraising allows both schools to provide a variety of excellent additional study subjects as well as many extra-curricular activities.  SCVCC high school students can attend the public Silver Creek High School, also rated a 9 by Great Schools.  Some families chose to send their high school students to a variety of outstanding private schools in the area.  Each year there are a number of carpools that get students to and from SCVCC to Archbishop Mitty High School, Valley Christian High School, Presentation High School and Bellarmine College Preparatory.
Private memberships are available from Silver Creek Valley Country Club.  There are three different membership levels - Premier, Racquet and Social.  Pricing varies with market conditions and the monthly fee depends on the type of membership owned.  There is no requirement that an owner of a property in SCVCC be a Club member, and people who reside outside the gates of SCVCC can join the Club as well.  However, most residents are members of the Club and enjoy the lifestyle available because of the local amenities.
As agents for Shea Homes, The Kliewer Team was involved in the community from before the first house was sold.  Pam Kliewer opened the Information Pavilion in December of 1991 and went on to manage the sales team for Shea Homes.  Scott got involved in the community in 1992 launching the custom sales program and Silver Creek Valley Realty.  In 1996 The Kliewer Team became residents of the Country Club, first in the Riviera Collection and later in an Augusta Collection home where we currently reside.  The Kliewer Team offers tours of the Country Club to acquaint potential home buyers with the many neighborhoods and home styles.  The tour can also include the Clubhouse and Swim & Racquet Pavilion.  Given our tenure in the Club, no one can provide more detail and history . . . allowing potential buyers to make the most informed decision possible to insure the greatest level of enjoyment and highest investment return with their home purchase.
